Watching and Painting

Unsurprisingly, it's a been a quiet start to the year, but it's given us the opportunity to do some repairs and some painting (where government guidelines and restrictions allow) and I'm pleased to report Thurne View has been getting a new coat of paint, including a touch of racing green to cover the previously muddy red colour...

As soon as restrictions allow, we'll be open for business again! If you'd like to book, or have an upcoming booking you need to discuss, give Broads Escapes a call.

Raising the roof... And everything else.

Thurne View will be closed during March, April and May next year while we get under the cottage and crank it up a bit. While the process is estimated to take six weeks, we're allowing a lot of extra time to deal with any unforseen problems.

Due to the high water table during the colder months, Thurne View practically becomes a houseboat; as you may have noticed if you've visited in the autumn or winter! This has concerned us for a while and though the house itself has never flooded, it makes for some interesting noises in the plumbing and potentially worrying issues with the underside of the property. So the answer is to give it a lift and get the building clear of the standing water that can last several months.

We can't do anything about the path sadly; you'll still need your wellies in the spring and autumn!

As part of that process, we also plan to remove the old shed and create a seating area, which will be ideal for sitting out in the evening and watching the sun set over the fields.
